The DHWG Online Privacy Policy

Effective on: March 10, 2004

Your right to privacy is very important. We recognize that when you choose to provide us with information about yourself, you trust us to act in a responsible manner. We believe this information should only be used to help us provide you with better service. That's why we have put a policy in place to protect your personal information. Below is a summary of our policy.

What Personal Information Do We Collect?

In general, when you visit our websites and access information you remain anonymous. Before we ask you for information, we will explain how this information will be used. We will not provide any of your personal information to other companies or individuals without your permission.

Our site requires registration to access member areas, although typically all that's requested is your name, an e-mail address and some basic information about you, such as job function.

There are occasions where we will ask for additional information. We do this to be able to better understand your needs, and provide you with services that we believe may be valuable to you. Some examples of additional information our website collects are name, address and phone number. We give you the opportunity to elect not to receive information from us regarding upcoming events and other news.

We also collect information from you when you request membership documents or contact us through our Contact Us page. We will collect your name and email address in order to follow up on your requests. You may also opt-in to receive updates regarding press releases and events. All we require is your email address and we will send you an email to confirm your subscription.

Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and the number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information, except when a user accesses the Members Only area of the Web site.

Protecting Your Privacy

We will take appropriate steps to protect your privacy. We will take reasonable security measures to protect your personal information in storage.

When you submit personal information, that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - Secure Socket Layer. While on a secure page, such as our account sign up page, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked as opposed to un-locked.

We also use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure once we receive it. For example, we store the personal information you provide on limited access computer systems that are located in secured facilities. Digital Home Working Group’s employees are trained and kept up-to-date on our security procedures. If you have any questions about the security at our Web site, you can send an email to .

We will not provide any of your personal information to other companies or individuals without your permission. However, we may need to provide your name and delivery address to third parties that DHWG uses for the purposes of delivering specific services to you (e.g., customer support, or a shipping company if you have asked us to send something to you.)

Our websites may provide links to third party sites. Since we do not control those websites, we encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third party sites.
